Kelly Persoons
Kelly reisde in 2009, na het afronden van haar studies Psychologie, naar Peru. Ze verbleef er zes maanden om er te werken in de sloppenwijken van de stad Tumbes. Na haar fantastische ervaring in Peru besloot ze de bijkomende opleiding ‘Conflict & Development‘ te volgen, die nu is afgerond. Ze ziet de mogelijkheid om naar Rwanda te gaan als unieke kans om haar kennis van andere culturen uit te breiden en nog meer ervaring op te doen met intercultureel werk.

Bart Van Walle
Bart heeft reeds twee maal Rwanda bezocht, een eerste maal bezocht hij er twee maand een vriend en een tweede keer deed hij er drie maand onderzoek voor zijn thesis. Hij heeft dus al interculturele ervaring opgedaan in Rwanda en beschikt over enkele nuttige contactpersonen. Hij studeerde Sociaal-Cultureel Werk, Internationale Politiek en heeft nu net een eenjarige opleiding in ‘Conflict & Development’ achter de rug. Hij wil deze kans aangrijpen om Rwanda nog beter te leren kennen. Hij ziet dit project als een ideale voorbereiding op zijn toekomstige loopbaan.
Bart already visited Rwanda twice. A first time he visited for two months a friend, the second time he did three months research for his thesis. So he already has inter-cultural experience in Rwanda and he has some good contact persons. He studied Social-Cultural Work and has a Master in International Politics. He has just finished a one-year Master after Master in Conflict & Development. He wants to take this chance to get to know Rwanda even better. Bart thinks this project would be an ideal preparation for his future career.
Tone- Rita Henriksen
Tone is Noorse, maar woont momenteel in Brugge. Door de laatste maanden de aandacht rond de 50-jarige onafhankelijkheid van Congo te volgen werd haar interesse voor Centraal-Afrika aangewakkerd. Na een opleiding in Peace and Conflict studies gevolgd te hebben en onderzoek in het Midden-Oosten kennen thema's rond ontwikkeling, mensenrechten en de culturen van deze regio's geen geheimen meer voor haar. Momenteel engageert Tone zich in de United Nations University met betrekking tot mensenrechten in Afrika. Daarnaast heeft Tone een sterke interesse in film en hoe deze de mensen tot nadenken kunnen aanzetten.

After finishing a Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies and conducting a field research in the Middle East Tone is familiar with topics concerning development, human rights and the cultures of the region. At the time of writing Tone is engaged in an internship at the United Nations University in Bruges where she works with human rights in Africa. Furthermore, Tone has a great interest in films and their ability to awaken people´s interests for important topics.

Fons Verhelst
Deze jongeman uit Brugge zal zich zowel vanuit professionele als persoonlijke redenen in dit project engageren. Dit jaar rondt hij zijn Masteropleiding in de internationale politiek af en heeft daarmee een uitgebreide achtergrond over wat er zowat speelt in de wereld. Op persoonlijk vlak is hij door de voorgeschiedenis van zijn grootouders en vader die in deze regio gewoond hebben ten tijde van Belgisch Kongo met deze regio verbonden. Naast deze redenen voelt hij eveneens een sterke aantrekkingskracht tot de prachtige natuur en biodiversiteit van Rwanda.

This year he finished his Masters in International Politics which gives him a good background on what actually goes on in the world. As his grandparents lived in the Rwanda region at the time of Belgian Kongo he also has a personal connection with this region. Aside from this, he feels a strong attraction to the nature and biodiversity of the region.

Michiel Ouvry
Michiel Ouvry is een Gentenaar van 26 jaar die na zijn bachelor- opleiding ‘Sociaal Cultureel Werk’ nog een Masteropleiding Internationale Politiek heeft afgerond. Ondertussen heeft hij een stage in het Europees Parlement achter de rug en hoopt hij via dit uniek project zijn kennis van centraal Afrika te kunnen bijschaven en nog belangrijker, de Rwandezen een onvergetelijke ervaring te bezorgen.
Michiel Ouvry is 26 and Gent based. He completed his bachelor course in Social and Cultural Work and afterwords he also did a Master in International Politics. This year he investigated the European political bodies with an internship at the European Parliament. He hopes through this unique project to expand his knowledge of central Africa and more importantly to give the Rwandese people an unforgettable experience.
